Aphasia

A language impairment that can affect all modalities of language: verbal expression, auditory comprehension, written output and reading comprehension.

Dysphagia

Oral-pharyngeal swallowing disorders. You may experience discomfort or coughing/choking during mealtimes. You may find it more diffucult to swallow than it was before. 

Apraxia

Difficulty starting and producing voluntary speech movement patterns when there is no weakness/paralysis of the speech muscles.

Dysphonia

A group of voice disorders with variety of symptoms. Your voice may change, and you may experience discomfort in the throat area. Dysphonia can also cause physical pain, a personal communication disability, and an occupational or social handicap. 

Dysarthria

Weakness of the muscles of the mouth, face, and respiratory system that may result in imprecise articulation, soft voice, rapid or slow speech, reduced intonation. 

Stuttering

Stuttering is a speech disorder characterized by repetition of sounds, syllables, or words; prolongation of sounds; and interruptions in speech known as blocks. An individual who stutters exactly knows what he or she would like to say but has trouble producing a normal flow of speech.

Cognitive-Linguistic Impairment

Problems with memory, attention, problem solving and abstract reasoning.

Child Language and Articulation (Consult Only)

Children sometimes have difficulty pronouncing certain sounds or classes of sounds ( often described as "hard to understand"). Language disorders can cause various types of difficulty in comprehension and expression.
